Wanted to like it, but not for older cats
After reading all the reviews, and seeing the 90-day money-back guarantee, I figured this was the last litter box I'd ever buy. Two months later, I'm returning it and getting my money back.

Why? I have two older cats (they are 13 but overall healthy) and are on a diet of hard food for urinary tract/bladder stone problems. Coupled with a hot summer, they drink a lot of water, and the water comes out the other end rather often. The litter trays work great for a few days but then get soooo saturated that the cats no longer want to go into the box. Since they tend to go in the same area of the box often, those parts of the crystals oversaturate then the liquid pools. It never leaks, as other reviews have indicated, but the crystals simply cannot absorb it all.

I've tried stirring the crystals as the instructions indicate, but while that spreads the liquid around, it's still far too much for the other crystals to soak up and then the entire box is super-saturated. When I called their help line, the very nice operator basically told me that my two older cats were probably just too much for it and that there wasn't much I could do.

If I could get more than 3 days out of a cartridge at a time, I would probably still be keeping it, but that's /cartridge every 3 days. That's very very expensive and a far cry from "only change it once a month" they like to throw around for a single cat. I want to love it, but for my girls it just won't work.

Decreased smells in my house!
This is a wonderful product. I may be a little premature as I have only owned it for about 8 weeks, but ... quieter than the LitterMaid it replaced. Less smell. Less tracking of litter -don't get me wrong, I wrote LESS tracking of litter, not NO tracking of litter. The cartridge lasts 7 to 9 days with my 2 cats. A bit expensive but WELL WORTH IT! There is less smell in my house. I live in a 2 bedroom place and there is NOT enough room in the bathroom for the litter box and I don't have a garage, so the litter box is in a bedroom ... this litter system has greatly reduced the odor. I have "squeezed" a few extra days out of the cartridge by removing the solid wastes (but only when I was too sick to leave the house to buy a new cartridge). And when I write "cartridge" you must know that I use an alternative method - I LOVE my Forever Tray -less messy than the included cartridge, much more environmentally friendly, and one of my cats SCRATCHES at the bottom of the box before and after, so I feel better knowing that the bottom is solid and NOT cardboard. My cats seem to not mind the box -one of them is very fussy and does not like to use a used box, so the self-cleaning system works well for us. And the mechanism is so quiet, I can be in the same room and not realize it is "raking" until the rake changes direction and makes a "clunk" noise!

One of the worst buys ever!
I bought this litter box with best intensions, even after I read the negative comments about it. Unfortunately, I experienced the same problems that other users are sharing here.
First of all, the cartrige could not last more than 8 days and this was only if I removed solid waste on a daily babsis. Just to clarify, I have one cat in good health standing. I do not want to imagine how the area was going to smell if I did not scoop the waste and even the wet crystals on a daily basis.

Second, I used the box for 4 months only (and then gladly threw it away) but during that time I had 3 leak accidents. As a result,I am still paying good money on products that eliminate cat urine from ceramic tiles and hope to get the smell removed some day.

Third, it is very very expensive and based on the experice I shared above, I would not get this box even if someone were to offer it for free.

LOVE LOVE LOVE! Don't understand the negative crits.
I bought this unit almost 1 month from today and I haven't had to do ANYTHING with this box. I checked on it now and then because my cat is so fiesty with litter that she kicks it all over the place. Even as the litter diminished due to her rough "cover-ups" and not placing any "replacement litter" in the tray, it is still good and we have not had any urine smells nor leakage through the bottom. My cat uses the box as frequently as a cat should and this box is a miracle for me and my husband. I am not sure why others have had such a terrible experience with this box. I did not order it from Amazon, I ordered straight from "Scoopfree" but I don't know how much of a difference it makes. I was peruzing for replacement trays and saw the comments and felt that I should give a word of positivity from my experience with the scoopfree litter box.

Why didn't I think about this before?
The cats came into our family through me, so I have the responsibility of cleaning the litter boxes, which is perfectly fine since he picks up the dog poop when we go for a walk. However, when my husband and I started talking about the future such as a possible pregnancy, I reminded him that he'd have to take care of the litter during that time. That's when we thought of the automatic litter box, and wow! Why didn't I get this sooner? It's awesome! It has reduced the smell in our house by a million. Yes, it's way more expensive than a regular box to keep up with, but honestly, it was expensive buying all those air fresheners too. It's a great product. The cats got used to it right away, and it appears to work just as it is designed. If you keep it on 20 minute clean-up, the rake won't get stuck...it only gets stuck when the crystals aren't dry enough. Overall, great buy. Only bad thing is the cost of up-keep.

So far, so good!
I've had the Genie operational for about a week now. The first Genie arrived with a dead motor but Customer Service quickly identified the problem and got me a replacement in the mail in just a few days. Because it was "down" for about a week or so, my cat got a chance to get used to it. When I got it up and running, I just keep putting it through its cycles and noticed the cat watching it and getting curious. I then would sit in the bathroom and gently place him in the box all the while praising him. Finally, I forced the issue by sealing his old box. He held it in for about 24hours and then relented, so to speak, in the new box. Now he appears to love this machine; loves to watch it do its thing. Adoption of the new box was pretty easy, but I have to tell you, my cat is laid back and not nervous.

Pro's:
1) Clean and fresh box, no fuss.
2) Cat is entertained by cleaning cycle.
3) Responsive Customer Service.

Con's:
1) Noisy!
2) Those granules get tracked all over the place.
3) It arrived broken.
4) Set up is a bit of a pain.

Not worth the money
I had heard great things about the Cat Genie, but my cat would simply NOT use it. I tried all the tricks in the manual. I even bough a separate basic cat litter pan and filled it with the Cat Genie granules. He did use that, but then I'd have to dump the cat genie granules into the cat genie and clean it. After several "washings," the granules started to smell like cat urine. After only five washes, the Cat Genie clogged. I'm not very handy, so I had to have a friend come over and disassemble the unit. All in all, it was a huge waste of money, and now I'm going back to the old-fashioned cat litter pan. Don't waste your money!

junk!
this is the worst product ive ever purchased. it does not do what it says it will do. the catriges work sometimes and other times they will not! it smells so bad no matter how much you clean it. it clogs up and you constantly have to clean it by hand. do not waste your money.

Best gizmo in the world... once you convince the cats to use it
I love my cats. Cleaning up after them... not so much. It's not that I'm reluctant to do it; I just never _did_ do it, so the cat litter box was a sorry example of my bad housekeeping. The poor kitties! An automated solution was the only way they'd ever be able to excavate enough to find a place to, shall we say, do their business.

We went through two of the LitterMaid boxes. Those work great (and are much cheaper) -- right until they quit. The LitterMaids have a basic flaw in the design, which is that their electronics can be (and eventually is) destroyed by urine. Eventually your cat will have an enthusiastic experience that shorts out the unit, and you'll find yourself with a stash of its expensive plastic boxes that do absolutely nothing.

The CatGenie isn't cheap, but I'm very glad we spent the money on it. We have had it for 4-5 months now, so I feel like I can give you a realistic report.

The setup isn't quite trivial, but it isn't a big deal. Our litter box was already in the shower stall of a guest bathroom, so it wasn't difficult to connect the CatGenie to the toilet. No problems there.

Friends who have come over to see how the CatGenie works (oh okay, they came over for dinner, but everyone wants a peek) are always interested in how the thing operates. Basically, the gizmo uses a motion detector to recognize when the cat has been hoofing around in the litter box. Ten minutes later (or manually, if you prefer) the CatGenie starts up. The bottom spins inside the container (slowly, we aren't talking about a blender here) as the rake comes down to scoop up any solid waste (oh heck, we'll just say "cat poop"). The poop is ground up (out of site) with a lot of water and the cleaning solution, and water is also swished through the litter area for quite a while. All the yucky stuff is pumped out, into the toilet; this process is repeated a few times. Eventually that much water makes the toilet flush itself. The unit also dries the litter, so the cats don't get that "eeew, wet feet!" look on their faces (for which they are sure to blame YOU).

The process takes 20-30 minutes, which is longer than I expected. But the result really IS a clean litter box that you don't have to think about. EVER.

Did I mention that it's a great gizmo?

I have only one nit related to the hardware. Sometimes, if the cats have deposited a big stinky load, it doesn't do quite so perfectly at cleaning everything up. It seems to do a slightly more thorough cleaning if you run it manually in that case.

The big issue is getting the cats to recognize and use it. That may involve more drama than you had in mind. Apparently, some cats take to it right away. With our two cats, we needed to refer to the (well written) instructions on how to cajole the beasts into using the device. The older cat fell right in with the advice to leave the smelly old box for a while but *don't clean it*; a few days later he had made the switch.

The younger cat (she is sweet but as dumb as a box of rocks and scared of EVERYthing) had a much harder transition. She used the old box for weeks until it reeked, but rather than adopt the new device she made her opinion known... on the couch. This did not go over well. She was used as her own personal towel and locked in the bathroom with only the CatGenie until she figured out what it was meant for. She had some "mistakes" after that until I figured out that, if she decided to use the box but it was in its cleaning cycle, she couldn't/wouldn't wait and would head back to the couch (now covered with aluminum foil, but she managed). End result: I recognize her morning schedule and distract her when the gizmo is running. It's been 6 weeks since she had an incident. I hope you don't need to devote as much time as I did to convincing the cat to use it -- but at least I can tell you that a happy ending is possible.

Incidentally, we got the CatGenie with both the side walls and the hood. The side walls do keep the cats from making a mess when they get enthusiastic about digging, so I'm glad of that. We haven't bothered with the hood, as we think the scaredy-cat would find it even more intimidating.

Overall, I'm extremely happy with the CatGenie. It might take a bit of work to convince your cats to use it, but once you do -- well, I'm glad that I can spend more time petting the cats than cleaning up after them.

Great not to have to clean, but has a major stupid design flaw!
OK, updating the review below because of a mind-numblingly STUPID design flaw and dropping down to 3 stars (tho 2.5 is more how I feel). All the below I wrote is true, but I discovered this recently and it has made me lower the rating. The back wall connects to the basin with the seam on the OUTSIDE of the basin, which means if your cat pees against the back wall, it drips down and OUT the box onto your floor. This is such an easy fix, it should be designed with the overlap on the INSIDE of the basin, then it would drip down inside the box. This is such an obvious and easy fix. Right now I'm using duct tape to try to solve this problem, but obviously that will get nasty very quickly...

I was very nervous getting this because of the negative reviews tied to the mechanics. I've only been using it for 3 weeks, so the jury is still out on how it holds up, but so far it has been worth every penny. I LOVE never cleaning the box and there always being a clean box for my cat to use. The only caveats I would offer are what lots of others have written:

I have a very UNFUSSY cat (thankfully!), but he is a "horizontal pee-er" so MUST have side walls. He is around 14lbs and I know he finds the space cramped with the dome, but fortunately he uses it. If you have a fussy cat or a cat who doesn't like smallish spaces, this might not work for you.

The box overall is large (you need to have the floorspace for it) but the internal space for the cat is not so big.

The box is definitely noisy when it cleans -- it is as equally loud as my washing machine. Fortuantely you can set it so it doesn't go off in the middle of the night, but when it does go off, you'll hear it.

The granuels do get everywhere. My laundry room is barely big enough for the box and not big enough for a trapping carpet in front of it, so the granules do spread out on the floor, but its not a big deal to sweep up.

I'll update this review again if/when I run into mechanical problems...

The

Excellent product
I had a purrforma litter box but it was discontinued and the gear got stripped and I can't find the part so I purchased this one. Litter-maid ultimate Edition so far I really like it and my cats do to. It is very fast cleaning and if my cats try to get in it in the middle of the cleaning cycle it backs up, this feature is great. It does make more noise then some but not a lot louder I do not mind that at all. I would recommend this box to a friend or two.

Litter Box black cover
Good addition to the Litter Maid self cleaning litter box. Looks good and helps hide litter in box. But the best advantage of this cover is, cat doesn't get near as much litter on the floor, a big plus.

a must for more playful cats
This kit has made a huge difference in the amount of kitty litter that ends up on the floor. I have an extremely active/playful male bengal who thinks the litter box is another toy for him. He likes to tear around and dive into the litter box...then peel out sending kitty litter flying all over the place...he thinks he is a top fuel dragster. The large carpet is a definite improvement over small throw rugs...it is easier to clean up and stiffer so it lays flat on the floor (this curtails playing bull dozer and rendering the carpet useless).

After shopping around this was definitely the best deal. It doesn't always take away the clumps I have to get the rest out with a hand scooper after all this trouble my cat stopped using the litter maid box and is pissing on the floor win some loose some.

Boodas Are Great!
We have tried other covered litter boxes over the years and so far this dome is the best. I had to throw out our previous expensive fancy "designer" cat boxes, which held the litter pan inside of a painted wood (particle board) unit with a lid, because the cats were peeing over the side and ruining (dissolving, really) the box. Fortunately, the Booda doesn't allow the cats to pee over the side of anything. There is a lip on the inside of the lid so that if the cat did pee on the side, it just runs down into the bottom, not over any ledges. This is important to me because I have to keep the domes/boxes on wood floors. Also, the ramp that catches the litter is great since my cats kick and track litter everywhere. I do still have to use a little dust broom to sweep up daily, but not nearly as much as with the old boxes. We actually have 2 of these and it's easy to just lift the lid and scoop the dirty litter.

Oh, and I don't use the liners since my cats would claw through them in a second and that just creates even more cleaning for me.

The only negative comment is that the Titanium color looks more like gold to me, so it doesn't actually match our other Booda, which I would have thought was Titanium. That doesn't matter to me, but it could really bug someone if they don't want gold. But, I still don't think the pictures online look gold, so I'm wondering if my dome was maybe mixed up color-wise.

Not so awesome
I bought this because I thought it would cut down on litter tracking, and I liked the appearance of it. However, it was not as wonderful as I thought it would be. Not only is it difficult to scoop because of the rounded sides, it is a PAIN to empty, even with the liners because my cat likes to scratch endlessly, thus shredding them. So I end up pouring used cat litter all over my floor trying to pour it into the trash can. However, my 2 cats used it just as easily as a regular litter box.

The cats love it, the dogs can't get in it
I was having such a problem with my 1-year old miniature pinschers enjoying the 24-hour buffet in the cats' litterboxes. I looked and looked for the old kind of hooded Booda boxes, but they don't exist anymore. I bought 2 of these and waited. Eureka! The dogs won't go up the ramp! The cats used the boxes the first day. Everyone is happy.

Booda dome solved my problems
Before purchasing the Booda Dome, I was at the end of my rope. My cat had been using an extra large covered litter box for years, but recently I was having more and more problems with it. She had begun regularly peeing just outside the box -- she always preferred to pee as soon as she was in the box, so she wasn't scooting herself in all the way, and I would have a puddle on the floor, the litter catcher, or the newspapers I put underneath the box. The other big problem I had was my dog enjoys scooping out little "treats" for himself -- so gross! But he'd go in there almost every day if I didn't get to scooping the poop first. Between these two issues, I couldn't take it anymore!

Well, the Booda Dome has fixed these problems for me in large part. It does take up more space than my last box, which is a drawback in my small NYC bathroom, but in the past month, only once has my cat missed the litter and peed on the outside. In this case, it lands on the stairs, so at least the box acts as a catch basin which is much easier to clean than the tile floor, the old litter catch mat, etc. My dog has attempted to go litter box diving, but he really doesn't fit inside, so he ends up coming out empty-handed, so to speak. I'm also having less litter tracked out of the box, which is great. This litter box was definitely worth the investment.

Totally dysfunctional for my cats
I have been totally dissatisfied with this product. I've only had it for a few weeks and have already ordered a different litter box. The top is not latched to the bottom so: (1) You cannot move the whole box from one place to another; (2) Urine leaks out onto the floor through the connection between top & bottom. I constantly have to clean the floor around the Booda and the sides of the dome. It is difficult to scoop inside because of the round walls and is cumbersome to clean period.

My male cat digs, so the liners are useless, and I suspect that he's the one who sprays the wall (ergo the leaking urine). My female cat jumps over the steps to get out of the dome, so the stairs do no good to knock off litter.

All-in-all, this has been a very dissappointing product.

Just say no to clay litter
This crystal litter is the best litter I have ever used. My cats took to the crystals quickly and there is no smell like with clay litters. The litter trays are easy to use and change. The litter does not get flung around by my cats like the clay litter did. I'll never use clay again.

Pricey but good
The 3 pack for these liners are well constructed. I wish I hadn't bought the scoop machine though. I dump the waste every week and replace the liners (because of their cost) whenever needed (sometimes every 2 months). I do have 2 cats that eat only canned food (they have all kinds of food allergies) so consequently, they do not use the scoop away machine too often.

I cannot believe I cannot get the bags (2/4.4lbs each) of litter delivered to my door as I have been since purchasing my litter box mos. ago. Best litter box I ever owned. I too, have the forever litter tray which solved the "wet" urine problem with the refill trays. Hate to go out and buy crystal litter elsewhere, but I guess I'll have to unless I get a reply as to why this has been discontinued.

Scoop free trays
Will highly recommend. They are very easy to change and contain the right amount of crystals to have in the litter tray. You may buy crystals from other sources and recyclable trays, but for the cost difference, the convenience of these trays is worth.

The amount of crystals is right, you don't have to wash or clean a recyclable tray, is just an easy in and out to replace. Amazon free shipping also helps, since is a heavy box if you have to pay for shipping.

Will also like to comment that the self cleaning automated litter box machine works great.

Breeze Refills for Cat Litter System
I was very skeptical about this system but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it really works. I have two cats in my home and the switch was pretty easy. I actually have a box with regular litter also. They use both and it actually uses less litter in the regular box. I've tried several other systems, but this one (although a bit more costly at first)was worth the cost. I like being able to purchase items in my own area, but many of the merchants don't always carry the items. Ordering online has proven to be just as easy and it's delivered right to my door!

Cat Litter Buster
We use this instead of cat litter with our Breeze cat litter box. We love it. It has cut down on the times we have to clean out the box and best of all - very, very little litter tracking. Wonderful. The litter box is much easier to clean now and we think it is actually cheaper in the long run then the "special" litter we use to buy.

Tidy Cat Breeze Products
I recently transition my cat to the Breeze system introduced by Tidy Cat. The transition was a "breeze", please pardon the pun! My 5 year old cat began using the system within 2 days. I've been using it for a month now. It is so much cleaner and easier to use than the traditional clay litters. I also love the fact that I can order supplies in bulk from Amazon - no more going to the store only to find out they out of the stock.

Litter Champ Really Works Great!
I ordered Litter Champ from Petco about 2 months ago. I have two indoor cats and it really made a big difference with cleaning their litter box. It's much easier and muchh more sanitary to have the Litter Champ to keep their waste in. These biodegradable bags are awesome too! What it is, is just a very long continuing green bag in the Litter Champ, once it's full you just pull down and out the bag, leaving enough room to be able to tie the bag and you cut it with the attached razor. Then you pull down the remaining bag and tie a knot at the bottom, fill with waste..etc...and you do that until the bag runs out. I usually have to cut the bag about every 2 weeks, and haven't actually "changed/refilled" the bag with these yet. I just bought this incase for when I run out.

Ah, sweet bliss!!!! How did cat and I ever live without this???
Ok, so if you're a cat owner, you've got to get one of these. THERE ARE NO WORDS for how much easier this makes litter issues. I was never bad at cleaning litter...I'd maybe let it go a day or two max in a one cat household....but this makes it sooo easy! House smells tremendously better, takes two seconds to clean litter, and I'm saving a TON of money scooping out the mess once or twice a day. I just have to do a full litter change much less frequently. I've had my beloved beastie for 8 years, and she's great, but every once in a while she'd eschew the litter and potty on floor for whatever kitty reason. She's not once done that since I got this machine. And I've had it for over a month now, and machine still isn't full.
Really, this thing is a total revelation, and now I literally don't think kitty or I could go back to before we had one of these. Only reason I didn't give it full 5 stars is it would be HEAVEN if the plastic sealed itself over each "deposit" rather than remaining open. However, the plastic flap does seal tightly against waste, so there's no odor from previous deposits except for the 2 seconds it takes to pop the new poo in thru the plastic flap. Quick, easy, clean....really, it'll revolutionize your litter problems. Wish I'd had one of these YEARS ago! Oh, and I've got a really bad back...this makes much less painful to deal with litter.

Works good for us
Good product, and the first of its type I have tried. I've had it for six months and it seems okay to me. I don't notice any odor. I dump very heavy clumps into it and the bag has never broken. Tie a good knot and it has never a problem removing the bag which, in my case, weighs a ton! I have to change the bag about every 6 days. I wish the magnet on the unit was larger or in more places, but that's a minor thing.

True Litter Champ fan
I write reviews about 1-3 times per year. The item has to be really good or really bad.
Litter Champ is definitely in the REALLY GOOD catagory. We live in the city and must store our garbage indoors. Can you imagine having litter box leavings tied up in a garbage bag? Thank God we don't have to live like that.
Litter Champ is great at holding the "remains of the day" without smell or mess. It's also easy to use. But plug your nose when you have to empty it - for us, that means about once a week. I recommend this item highly.

litter disposal keeps my house fresh
I have two kitties, who seem to use their litter box A LOT! As such, I scoop at least twice a day, and my Litter Champ disposal system, with these bags keep my house smelling fresh. Disposal is simple and fast and refill replacement is also straightforward, although each refill lasts me over two months.

Great Large Box
I've tried them all Litter Robot, Scoop Free and toilet training my cats, but the Lucky Champ is being brought out again because it is better than all the more expensive automatic boxes in my opinion. It is large, has high sides and the cover is not a solid piece of hard plastic but a material that lets light into the pan. The cover is quite high too which is good, so many covered pans just aren't high enough. I wish they had more cover choices but this pan is the best.

Nice Litter Box with Wonderful Canopy
I was a little concerned with the low entrance, but bought it anyway as my lady cat would be using it. Besides, I really wanted that pink-dotted canopy that fits this litter box - so adorable! So what if my cat doesn't care. :)

The litter box itself is quite roomy (as is the canopy), and I really appreciate that dust from digging/covering does not cling to the sides of the box. Keeps this litter box cleaner and looks much less messy than all the others.

On the room-for-improvement-side, I would design the front higher (or add that design), as even my lady cat sometimes spills out a little bit of litter when covering her business. This is definitely not the box for diggers! Kitties, lady cats, and older cats having trouble getting in and out of higher-sided boxes might do well with this litter box.

Another point I would like to mention is that the litter box is a sensitive design, as I have to be mindful at all times when cleaning it, and cannot just mindlessly and hurriedly scoop from back to front or side to side, or just scrape around with gusto as I used to do with other large, deep litter boxes. Scooping on the slippery plastic of this box (a sticky point on other litter boxes), can get out off hand when combined with the low entrance. Oops!

All in all, I am glad I purchased this litter box with the pink-dotted canopy - makes me smile every time I look at it, and all is working out well with my lady cat and my scooping. ;)

Wish I got it sooner
My previous cat that I only had for a few months (was already sick when I got her) was a huge kitty this box would have been perfect for her.
Second kitty I got as a kitten and the box I had was plenty big enough for her (regular size box but with an attachment that made the sides a little higher and did help with the litter outside the box) Kitty was growing tho and she seemed a little long for that box and I considered getting this one but did not wanna spend the money.
Then I got a second kitten and needed a new box so I finally got this one. Its great. Good size for both cats. Its also slick on the bottom so litter does not stick to the bottom even when kitty has a little diarrhea problem.
I do not use liners so thats not an issue for me.

I love the design, however can't seem to find litter pan liners that will fit it, or stay securely in the box..

Not good
Very disappointed in this product. It would be great, but the lower side is lower than a regular pan, and litter spills out worse than ever, and it's a big mess. It would be perfect if the lower side were considerably higher.

Ideal litter pan
I got this pan for my cat and it's great!

The high sides prevent any leakage at the seam between the top and bottom, it seems pretty roomy and it controls odor well. I did, however, take off the flap door to make my cat more comfortable.

Goin' in privacy
When a person thinks 'covered litter box' this is exactly the kind of box they're thinking of.

It gets the job done, giving your cats a place to do their business in private and helps to keep the smell down. It's a big box, the ideal size for your adult cats. The lid comes with an optional door flap that you can remove or snap on with ease. Some cats don't like them, I know one of mine was confused by it.

There's not much else to say. It's good quality. It's made out of lightweight but sturdy plastic that will probably withstand many years of kitties scraping at the walls in their instinctive gestures to bury their business.

Good product, marginal order
This is the second of these boxes I've bought from this company. They are extra large and the entrance is high, which is perfect for larger cats who have a habit of hanging their rears out the ends of lower entrance boxes. I'm giving this three stars because they shipped me a box with a blue upper portion and a beige lower portion instead of a solid one, or notifying me that they were out f stock on one particular color and giving me the option of waiting or accepting the multi-color.

Haven't tried it yet, but...
We have a smaller version of the same cat box and it works okay. Our cats can't figure out how to work the door, so we finally just threw it away. I haven't used it because we're planning on using it for our new apartment, which we haven't moved into yet. Actually, my biggest beef with itwas color. I had a black, grey and white with candles design for the bathroom, and it's kindof ruined by the bright blue cat box that I got. Looks like I'll be buying a new one as soon as we can afford it.

Great litter box! Buying a 2nd one
This is probably the best litter box I have owned. I've had many different types of boxes in the past, including the expensive Litter Robot and other automatic cleaning boxes, as well as another one Amazon sells that looks like a big fake plant and always gets lots of compliments because no one can tell it's a litter box! The problem I have with that one is it is difficult to clean, cannot be carried easily from room to room without the top falling off, and my cats fling litter around on the floor. I still have that box but was needing to add a second box since I recently moved to a 2-story home. I am so glad I found this one. First, it is the perfect size for my cats. It is large but not so big it won't fit easily in a corner. I agree with other reviewers that it is not necessarily "Extra" large. I really love the shiny, smooth finish - not only is it pretty to look at and feels nice, it is easy to wipe clean. The top latches easily to the base and is very secure, easily moved when you need to. I was worried my cats would not adjust to having a flap-door but they had no issues at all. This is a HUGE help in preventing litter all over the floor! It also seriously cuts down on any litter box odor. It's amazing how an inexpensive box like this has made a task I *dreaded* become so much easier and I no longer can smell the box when I walk through the door. I'm buying another one and getting rid of my expensive "plant" lookalike!

Working very well most of the time
Took a bit for our cat to use it. Not sure the second cat is using it. Have had it working for about a month now and had 2 jams. It seems if the toilet seat pinches the disposal tube, since the seat feet are too short. I could not find larger seat feet (as the instructions recommend) at Lowes, so I am using furniture feet. OK for now. Once the toilet seat was lifted and I pressed the start button again it did start working again. I was just scared from the instructions I would have to take the whole thing apart and there was water sitting in the genie.

The main cat who uses it is medium/long haired and tracks the "litter" around a lot. Still trying to get daughter and spouse to at least put them back in the litter box. (I couldn't get them to clean the box before I had this and that was the deal for getting these two additional cats. Now my daughter wants another kitten.)

All in all it really has made our home a much better smelling place!!!

The product arrived on time and in perfect shape! In fact, I only ordered the dome, then I realized I should have ordered also the walls, but when it arrived the walls were in it, too!

Pieces don't fit together.
Got this in an attempt to contain the granules. The two halves that you're supposed to "gently press together" do not line up properly. When you even look at the two pieces, it is obvious. But in the meantime I spent a lot of time being aggravated that something so simple wouldn't work. Do they even check this stuff before shipping?

Great item, the sidewalls were included in the package
I have tried a cat genie in the past and I couldn't get the cats to use it. When we were "adopted" by our new kitten we decided to give the cat genie a try again. She took right to it almost instantly, but was spraying the litter all over the floor. I ordered the dome and the sidewalls separately, but the dome was delivered first. I didn't bother opening the box for several days, thinking that the dome was useless with out the sidewalls. I was surprised to find the sidewalls were included in the box, and the litter on the floor is reduced to a more manageable amount.

A must-have for the genie
If you have a genie you should get this. It will help keep the litter granules from flying about. I have one cat who is a vigorous digger so this keeps most of the litter inside the dome.

Adding this gives your genie a classy, sleek look, and it provides your cats the privacy they like. The design mimics the curves of the human toilet bowl, so it helps the genie blend into a bathroom. It also keeps anything from falling into the litter.

Lifts easily so you can take it to the tub and sanitize it. Simple and effective.

Also, this looks a lot like the Booda domes, so it helped my cats get accustomed to the genie when I first installed it....
